City Council
The Claremont City Council meets on the first Monday each month at 6:30 PM at the City Hall located at 3288 East Main Street. Council meetings are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to attend to learn about the issues before the City Council. The City Council serves as the board of directors for the City of Claremont and adopts ordinances, rules, and regulations as may be necessary or appropriate to protect the health, life, or property, or to preserve or promote the comfort, convenience, security, better government, or general welfare of the City and its residents and merchants. City Council adopts an Action Plan regularly.  This plan can be found in the document center.

 City Council 2018
Elections for City Council are held on odd numbered years in the month of November. The City's elections are nonpartisan (no party affiliation) and plurality (popular vote wins and no run-off) with the Mayor and Council members serving four year staggered terms.

Qualifications for the offices of Mayor or Council include:
  • Resident of the City of Claremont
  • Registered to vote
  • US Citizen
  • 21 years of age
  • Not convicted of a felony
