March 28, 2019 - 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. - N. Lookout St. will be closed from the BB&T traffic light to
Centennial Blvd. for water system work. Local traffic will be allowed through the closed off
area to residences and trucks will be routed down Centennial.

March 15, 2019 until Further Notice - The tennis courts in Claremont City Park will be CLOSED
until further notice. They are a safety hazard so Claremont Police Department will be
monitoring and any trespassers prosecuted. THE GOOD NEWS: This means new things are
coming to the park so stay tuned! 

March 12, 2019 - 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Public Services crew will be shutting down Main Street/Hwy. 70
in front of Hardees for paving. Below is a map showing the work area and detour route.

March 9, 2019 - 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Water system work on N. Oxford Street in front of Boxcar Grille. 
One lane will be closed and traffic routed around the work site. 

February 24, 2019 - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sewer line replacement on Main Street in front of Hardees. The
work will begin at 7 a.m. and last until 5 p.m. at the latest. The road will be closed to through traffic
on Main Street between the Hardees light and the Industrial Park/Penny Road. Workers will be
detouring everyone around this area by sending them to Frasier Drive through the Industrial Park.
Residents in the closed off area will be allowed to and from their homes.

January 11, 2019 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Small section of Anderson Street closed for fire hydrant repair near
Mt. Calvary Church. Traffic routed around and street residents helped through area by Public Services
crew. Water will be off to all locations along Anderson Street during the same time frame. See map for

- Main Street closed from Claremont City Park to N. Oxford 
Street for the 35th Annual Christmas Parade.

December 1, 2018 - 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- The section of Centennial Blvd. between N. Lookout Street and 
Hwy. 70 (Main Street) will be closed for the Christmas Parade Lineup. Local traffic allowed through 
to get to and from homes and businesses.

On South Depot Street between Main Street (Hwy.70) and Catawba Street and on Catawba Street
between South Depot Street and South Lookout Street. This time frame is just
a range and work may be begun after the estimated start time or completed before the estimated
end time. WORK ON THE SECOND SECTION WILL NOT START UNTIL THE FIRST SECTION IS 
FINISHED AND OPENED.

October 11, 2018 at 2:10 p.m.
- From Catawba County Emergency Services:Catawba County Emergency Management has been alerted to the following road closures in Catawba County due to storm-related
flooding. As this is an evolving situation, Emergency Management advises all motorists to remain alert
and use extreme caution while driving. Drivers should avoid driving through standing water, crossing
flooded roads, and driving around barricades.
  • W. NC HWY 10 at Holly Ridge Rd.
  • South D Ave at S. D Ave. EXT, Maiden
  • 4100 block Little Mtn. Rd., Newton
  • S. NC HWY 16 at Anderson Mtn. Rd., Maiden
  • 5040 East Bandys Cross Rd. at Bandys High School bridge
  • Laney Rd., Maiden bridge near 4500
October 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. - Flooding, Downed Power Lines and Trees are being reported in our area. 
Please consider staying home but if you must come out here are some areas where incidents have
been reported for you to avoid/use caution near:
Keisler Dairy Rd., Main Street Near St. Marks Church, Intersection of Bethany Church Rd and Kelly 
Blvd., White Oak Creek Area, I-40 East Towards Statesville, N. Oxford St. Near Rock Barn Rd., Tree 
on Power Lines on Dan Brown Dr.

October 11, 2018 at 8:00 a.m.
- Tropical Storm Michael Warning through the evening hours. Please use extreme
caution when driving and contact your power company if your power goes out. Also, never drive 
through standing water and call 911 in case of an emergency (NOT for power outage).

October 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. - Road will be closed from Hardees Light on S. Oxford St. to Frazier Dr. for the
BHHS Homecoming Parade Lineup. At 6:00 p.m. parade will move down Main St. to the City Park and 
parts of Main St. will be closed at that time. Road is expected to be open by 6:30 p.m. when parade
reaches the park and the pep rally begins in the park. 

October 5, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. - October 6, 2018 at 9:00 p.m.
- Main Street Closed from N. Oxford St. 
(Hardees) light to N. Lookout Street (BB&T) light. Residents living on Main Street will be allowed in
to and from their homes.

October 5, 2018 - 2:00 p.m.
- City Hall Offices close early for Claremont Daze Festival. 

October 2, 2018 - 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
- Fire Department conducting Live Burn Training at 4769 S. Depot St
Road will be closed in front of address during this time. Police Department will guide traffic.

September 30, 2018
- On Sunday, September 30, between 12PM and 7PM water will be shut off to certain  
locations along South Depot and Catawba Street for important water system maintenance. Also, the road will be closed from South Depot Street to South Lookout Street on Catawba Street. Visit the news story on the front page of the website or our Facebook page for more details.

- The road will be closed on S. Depot St. at Carpenter Realty today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for
water system work. You can access S. Depot St. and its businesses by going to S. Lookout & Catawba St.

September 17, 2018 - 1:00 p.m. - Claremont City Park is now back OPEN. Public works has cleared the area but please still be cautious. 

September 17, 2018 - 10:00 a.m.
- Catawba County Parks (Bakers Mountain, Riverbend and St. Stephens) are now open. Claremont City Park is still being cleaned up and evaluated.

September 17, 2018 - 8:30 a.m.
- The Catawba County Library System is returning to regular operating hours. All branches will open at their normally scheduled times, as follows:
Monday, September 17 at 9:00 a.m. – Main Library in Newton
Monday, September 17 at 12:00 p.m. – St. Stephens, Southwest and Sherrills Ford-Terrell branches
Tuesday, September 18 at 12:00 p.m. – Maiden, Conover and Claremont branches (closed Mondays)
**Catawba County Parks remain closed as park staff evaluate conditions following this weekend’s storm activity.**

September 15, 2018 - 7:00 p.m. - A special hotline has been created for people to find dialysis services during the storm. 
It is 1-800-524-7139. Winds and rain are expected to peak during tonight and tomorrow morning. Please remember to contact Duke Energy directly for any power outages/downed power lines. 9-1-1 is for emergencies only. Duke Energy - 1-800-POWERON or 1-800- 769-3766 or www.duke-energy.com

September 14, 2018 - 9:00 a.m. - State of Emergency Declared for County and City of Claremont.
